Books by Island authors will include the latest from Audrey Thomas, Tattycoram; new editions of Jane Rule’s influential novels, including Desert of the Heart; and Nancy Richler’s Your mouth is lovely. William Deverell lives on Pender, not here, but since his latest, April Fool, has won the 2006 Arthur Ellis Award for Canadian Crime Writing, you’ll find it here. Plus two cookbooks from Galiano: Alison Duanan’s Galiano Island Soups, and Huguette Benger’s La Berengerie: a taste of Galiano.
Other hot new titles on Galiano Island Books’ menu are Bill Buford’s Heat; Mark Kurlansky’s The Big Oyster; Insatiable by Gael Greene; Sex Life of Food by Bunny Crumpacker; and the irresistibly titled Twelve: A Tuscan Cook Book by Tessa Kiros.
Galiano Island Books will make a donation to the Galiano Health Care Society for every book purchased at the Festival.
All proceeds from ticket sales, the Raffle and the Auction go to the Galiano Health Care Society.
