Galiano Island Books has taken a booth at the Festival.

On it you’ll find titles of interest to wine lovers, and island lovers. Here’s a sampling.
Had a glass Top 100 wines for 2006 under $20 - The title says it all – your guide to value among wines available in Western Canada. One name, at least, appears in the Festival wine list – St. Hallett Gamekeeper’s Reserve, to be tasted at the Select Wines booth. DiscCookery
The DiscDrive 20th Anniversary Cookbook
by Jurgen Gothe, smooth talking spinner of discs, island dweller and wine authority.
The Wineries of British Columbia by John Schreiner. Second edition of this authoritative survey, bigger and better, just like the BC wine industry.

British Columbia Wine Country by John Schreiner, a tour of the thirteen BC wine regions, accompanied by photographer Kevin Miller. Laughing with my mouth full by Pam Freir. “Hurray! We’ve finally got a food writer in Canada with a sense of humour!” says fellow foodie Jurgen Gothe. Not entirely about food – the word “wine” occurs 66 times in the book, says Pam.
Books by Island authors will include the latest from Audrey Thomas, Tattycoram; new editions of Jane Rule’s influential novels, including Desert of the Heart; and Nancy Richler’s Your mouth is lovely. William Deverell lives on Pender, not here, but since his latest, April Fool, has won the 2006 Arthur Ellis Award for Canadian Crime Writing, you’ll find it here. Plus two cookbooks from Galiano: Alison Duanan’s Galiano Island Soups, and Huguette Benger’s La Berengerie: a taste of Galiano.

Other hot new titles on Galiano Island Books’ menu are Bill Buford’s Heat; Mark Kurlansky’s The Big Oyster; Insatiable by Gael Greene; Sex Life of Food by Bunny Crumpacker; and the irresistibly titled Twelve: A Tuscan Cook Book by Tessa Kiros.

Galiano Island Books will make a donation to the Galiano Health Care Society for every book purchased at the Festival.

All proceeds from ticket sales, the Raffle and the Auction go to the Galiano Health Care Society.
