The Galiano Festival is informal, and it’s fun. It’s an open-air event, a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon. There’s room to move around, no long waits for the wines you want to taste, plenty of time to talk with the wine merchants and wine makers. All the wines offered for sampling are affordable, whether they are imports you’ll find at Liquor Stores or local products available at the wineries. As you enter the Festival you’ll be given a printed list of all the wines, and a pencil. Make notes as you go, and when you get home you’ll find your Wine List has become a shopping list. |

The Festival is an open-air event, a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon. And it’s great value. The price of entrance includes unlimited tasting, a crested Riedel crystal wine glass, fresh-made finger food, and entertainment by Brad Prevedoros. Also part of the Festival experience are fine cheeses from Moonstruck of Salt Spring Island, for tasting and for purchase; a Silent Auction and a Raffle of good things from the Island, and from well-wishers; a selection of books on wine and food, and by island authors, for sale; and tee-shirts and aprons with the Wine Festival insignia. |

Sturdies Bay ferry terminal on Galiano is served by BC Ferries from Tsawwassen (Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (Victoria). You should check with BC Ferries for sailing times, fares, and reservations. If you plan to bring a vehicle from the Mainland advance reservations are essential: call 1-888-223-3779, or reserve through www.bcferries.com. Foot passengers from Tsawwassen do not need a reservation, nor do any travelers from Swartz Bay. This year, BC Ferries has asked us to advise travelers on the 8:30 AM sailing of the Queen of Nanaimo on Saturday 12th August to arrive at least an hour in advance, whether they are in vehicles or on foot. |
