A Foodie Favourite

Eating well isn't a new trend on Galiano - it's a way of life. From haute cuisine to comfort food, wine festivals to sustainable farming, visitors can enjoy the fruits of our labours all year round.

Galiano's Restaurants.... If you'd rather let somebody else do the work, our caf├ęs, restaurants and bakeries always delight. Most are proud to feature local fare on their tables.

If it's knowledge you're hungry for, the Galiano Community Food Program runs education and skills sharing programs that encourage local sustainability. Spring's Nettlefest fetes the versatile but largely overlooked nettle plant. Galiano Blackberry Festival runs on the Saturday of Canada's Thanksgiving weekend in early October. The Annual Mushroom Festival (Fungus Among Us) is a long-standing fall celebration on the first Saturday in November and celebrates all things delectable with fungi!

Galiano's Saturday Farmners' Market returns every summer (#104 on our MAP from the May 18th long weekend to September's Labour day, 10am to 2pm at the Lions Field), as well as the Galiano Wine Festival. A fundraiser for Galiano Health Care Society, this event draws a serious crowd to our Lion's Park every mid-August for unlimited tastings from BC vineyards and cideries.

Trincomali Farms, 100 acres between Mount Galiano and Bluff Park, has been a working farm for more than a century. Pick up fresh garden produce and cut flowers at Trincomali Farms' seasonal stand.

Up-island you can drive to Retreat Cove on TUESDAYS for Cable Bay Farm where you can pick and come away with locally grown food.

Few things say summer on Galiano like wild blackberries. They grow island-wide late July to early September, so bring your buckets.

Check out our Calendar Events Page for upcoming food listings.
